Our Director

Mil Recio

My name is Mil Recio and I am the Lead Teacher and Founder of Tuesday’s Child Academy. Teaching children and helping them thrive is my passion. I have been a licensed preschool teacher since 2005. My motivation for becoming a preschool teacher was my former teacher Mrs. Wedge. Her style of hands on teaching has been an inspiration. Like my mentor, my goal for Tuesday’s Child Academy is to foster a love of learning in the children. I believe that learning is meant to be interactive and fun. Children learn best when they can actively engage in their environment. Having an outdoor classroom also encourages the children to connect to nature and appreciate their world.

“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”- Benjamin Franklin

Our Mission

At Tuesday’s Child Academy, our mission is to have fun through exploration and discovery. We encourage each child to fully experience their natural joy for learning in an atmosphere of respect for self and others.

OUR PROGRAMS

With a day full of warm and nurturing interactions, movement and playtime, our students have every opportunity to grow and develop a sense of trust and confidence in a secure learning environment. At Tuesday’s Child Academy our childhood development program  is carefully designed to encourage each child’s growing need for independence, expression and their emerging sense of self. Our integrated curriculum system uniquely weaves 35 research-based skills into playful games and discovery projects. The cross-disciplinary model supports a child’s on-going social-emotional, physical, language and cognitive development.

Fun & Interactive Curriculum

Open Communication

It is essential for us to tell you about your child’s day in school. We will take videos and pictures to share only with you about their day. Expect daily communication with images and videos sent.

Nature Based

Our classroom spends an extended time outside. Whether doing science projects outside daily to having ample recess time, our day starts and ends outside.

ParentTeacher Conferences

Conferences will be held twice during the academic school year in November and March. Conference time is an opportunity to learn about your child’s learning style and their social/emotional, and intellectual development.

We Foster Learning

Our philosophy

Together, we share a common bond, that is, your child. By working together we can help your child to achieve and develop to the best of their potential abilities. As parents, you are the first and most important teachers of your child. We, as teachers, provide a prepared learning environment and curriculum which is designed to introduce your child to the awesome world of learning. The class sizes are small, no more than 6 children per session. This is to provide a warm, caring, and stimulating environment. Our philosophy is simple, involve the children in every aspect of the learning process, and they will learn a subject fully.



Literacy

Children are exposed to new vocabulary and rich language. Literacy is taught to children by books, songs, puzzles, and games.



Mathematics

We teach children basic math in an interactive way. Lots of fun counting games and materials used, to show real life math.

l

Art

At Tuesday’s Child Academy, we let creativity run wild. Whether through process art, or an art project, children are expected to get messy.



Science

Our goal is to foster a love of learning in overlooked areas such as technology and engineering in an age appropriate way.

OUR HAPPY CUSTOMERS

The Smiths Family

Dear Mil,

Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for Ellie this past year. We may not look back at this pandemic fondly, but surely you will always be a bright spot that we will remember. Thank you for giving us parents the sanity that was hard to come by. But most importantly, thank you for creating a learning environment for them when it seemed to be impossible. Bless you (!!!) for all you’ve done for us. Best of luck in your endeavors next year.

With love,
The Smiths

The Draganjas Family

Dear Mil,

We can’t thank you enough for turning a year of what could have been isolation for Ava into one filled with joy. You have far exceeded our expectations when we joined the pod and then some! We wish you the very best of luck with the next set of rascals next year! And of course, let’s stay in touch!

With love,
The Draganjas

FAQ’s

How will I know what happens during my child's day?

Transparency and peace of mind are the foundation of Tuesday’s Child Academy. Our teacher documents your child busy at work. Expect videos and pictures daily. Our teacher also touches base with the parents every day at pick up.

Do children go outside everyday?

Weather permitting, the children enjoy 2.5 hours minimum daily of outside time and play.

What security measures does the school take before releasing children?

We have a daily sign-in/out sheet. We also ask parents and legal guardians to provide an approved pickup person list. If a person other than the parent/legal guardian will be picking up, we require a written notice via text at least (2) hours before pick up. We will not release the children without written consent to anyone except the legal guardians.

Will my child be challenged academically here?

School readiness is a crucial component of Tuesday’s Child Academy. We tailor our curriculum not only to meet children where they are at but to challenge them as well. Our curriculum covers STEM activities daily, as well as social learning components. Most children who leave the Academy for Kindergarten will know how to write their full names and essential words.

Can my child bring his/her favorite blanket or toy

Children may bring their favorite toy or blanket to school, but it must remain in their cubbies. This ensures that the children are focused during their school day and sharing the materials provided.

What are your teacher qualifications

Ms. Mil has her Preschool Lead Teacher license as well as her Infant Toddler license.

How are misbehaving students disciplined?

At Tuesday’s Child Academy, we provide a loving and safe environment for children. Our behavior management strategies consist of positive reinforcements and redirection. In collaboration with the parents, we can tackle any behavioral issues that may arise.

Do you provide meals and snacks to students?

Our center provides 2 healthy snacks throughout day.
